Lens adapter guide
How to adapt a vintage lens to a modern digital camera?
In order to use a vintage lens on your modern digital camera you will require (in most cases) an adapter. It’s essentially a small piece of kit that allows you to combine a camera with a lens that have different mounts. Not every camera to lens combination is available. Some digital cameras are more suitable than others, this is especially true for mirror-less systems.
This adapter guide is designed to help you find the right adapter for your requirements. The list below comprises the main mounts. There are constantly new adapter popping up on the market. The guide is not yet complete and will be amended continuously. You can help by providing missing information.
Please note that there are essentially two types of adapter usability:
- Green: Focus to infinity will work fine. The lens can be mounted and used without much effort.
- Yellow: The lens will mount but focusing to infinity will not work. Some of these adapters also use an extra glass element that deteriorates the image quality.
