Leica M adapter

With the right adapter for your camera you can use Leica M lenses on most digital cameras. Adapters for Leica M mount lenses exist for Canon EOS, Fuji-X, Nikon F, Sony NEX, micro 4/3 (MFT), Canon EOS M and Nikon 1. Not all camera to Leica M lens combination allows focusing to infinity. As with all vintage lenses used on a digital camera using an adapter, focusing and aperture setting has to be set manually.
The Leica M mount was released to the market with the introduction of the Leica M3. The Leica M mount is a bayonet mount and is a replacement of the older Leica screwmount (Leica M39) lens system.
A wide range of top of the sheld lenses have been made with a Leica M mount and this system is still used today with modern digital Leica cameras sucha s the M8 and M9. Lenses using a M39 mount were produced both by Leica / Leitz as well as a whole range of other manufacturers such as Carl Zeiss, Voigtländer and Angenieux.
